AFTON MCKEITH, a fitness and movement coach, said: “4,000 steps a day are definitely sufficient to improve one’s health. I’d recommend for a beginner to start out with 1,000 steps per day and to increase that number gradually until a desired step goal is achieved. This goal should be a number of steps that an individual is comfortable with and able to execute safely.”
